AFF is a 6-day physical film festival in the heart of Hollywood
After a fun night out, the rebellious Piper Brennan drunkenly sleeps with her awkward neighbor she hardly knows, Evan Ebert, and winds up pregnant. When she attempts to tell Evan the news, she quickly realizes that he’s not the long-term guy for her and her baby. Going against the advice of her best friend Maya, Piper opts to keep the pregnancy a secret until she can find a more successful guy who she can sleep with and ultimately start a “family” with. After a few failed and comical attempts at finding a match, Piper stumbles into Cameron, a successful businessman who is a regular at the café she works at. Everything appears to be going according to plan as Cameron quickly falls for Piper and is onboard for the pregnancy. However, Piper’s evil scheme starts to unravel when she begins to second guess herself and realize that she might be making the biggest mistake of her life.
A Little Hope for Chicago masterfully blends narrative performance with documentary to offer an intimate look into the life of a Chicago hustler who narrowly escapes the clutches of death and incarceration. Through powerful storytelling and raw, candid interviews, A Little Hope for Chicago provides a gripping exploration of resilience and hope amidst adversity. This poignant film is both eye-opening and inspiring.
Reclaiming Our Humanity is a powerful documentary that shines a light on the transformative journeys of six African American men who have rebuilt their lives after incarceration. Through their compelling stories, the film showcases the resilience and strength of individuals who defied the odds to reclaim their futures. These men’s experiences underscore the profound potential for change and growth within those affected by the criminal justice system. Their journeys serve as a beacon of hope, demonstrating that with determination, support, and self-belief, one can rise above even the darkest challenges.
All Happy Families is a delightful dramedy by Haroula Rose that explores the chaos and charm of family dynamics. Starring Josh Radnor as Graham, an actor and writer struggling with his career, and Rob Huebel as his successful brother Will, the film captures a weekend of family reconnection in their childhood home. With new tenant Dana (Chandra Russell) set to move in, the siblings and their parents are forced to confront long-held resentments and reveal hidden secrets. Featuring standout performances, including Becky Ann Baker as the weary matriarch Sue and John Ashton as the grumpy but lovable Roy, this film offers a heartfelt and witty look at family life.
